Family and Friends in B.C.

Good Bye to great family and friends in Alberta!

Welcome to B.C.!

Hello All!  Welcome to our blog site and thank you for tuning in to our first official post! :)

Only 9 hours to go on the eve of our fight and soon we will be well on our way to Vietnam, we can not believe our trip is almost here!

So, here we are in Vancouver City spending our last dwindling hours with Kyle!
The three of us have decided to celebrate our last night here in Canada over some hockey and a cold beer before he is the last to see us off on our adventure.

Shaun and Kyle (the Bish)

And speaking of goodbyes, Today was also the last day of our week long visit in Nanaimo and we were very, very, very sad to leave.   The last week here in B.C has been nothing short of incredible. Incredible family. Incredible food.  Incredible time with friends.

This is a picture of Aunty Colette's beautiful home.  Our stay with her, Jarrett and Jace was nothing short of fantastic.  ( although  we were sad to miss Uncle Jack ) The house is up on a hill giving their windows in the front the most beautiful view of the ocean and the mountains, the first time shaun and I saw it in the day light we both just stood there and went Ahhh :)

One night we got into the Jaggerbombs! And Danced the night away.

Our week their was full of great quality time with family.  We spent one day out on the town with Grandma and Grandpa Gibeau, they took us down to the harbor for a walk to see the shops and boats and  on to some sight seeing around beautiful Nanaimo.  Later we hooked up the GPS and asked "her" for some help guiding us to value village for some bargain shopping.  We spend a long time driving around laughing until our guts hurt because we were sure we were lost. We kept saying to one another while laughing that the GPS woman had failed us, and that she had us very lost.  Eventually we found the way but needless to say we had a great time getting lost and laughed the whole way their and the whole way home.

There were many other great moments with Grandma and Grandpa Gibeau, we had a ton of fun spending time with them.   Madeleine even made us her famous home made pasta for one of our suppers and MMM MMM! It is the most delicious pasta I have tasted.   And not to forget Ray's fantastic stew and tender roast beef!

Missie, Shaun and Grandma/Grandpa

I could go on and on about all the great cooking of the Gibeau family, we even spent a night out in Duncan to visit Shaun's Uncle Marc, Aunty Brenda, Jordan and Breanne. I have heard so much about Marc's cooking until I finally I had the chance to taste it.   and.. WOW! Muscles to start, in Chipotle sauce.  Salad with maple vinagrette, goat cheese and candy salmon.  THENNN a tasty italian pasta with wine and finally some nice moist carrot cake.

I am telling you, we ate!

Colette also took us and Madeleine on a day trip to Coombs, a tourist attraction near Nanaimo. It is a cute little town with quaint little shops, yummy bear claw ice cream and even goats that live on the roof of buildings there! How cool hey! The Gibeau's even have a distant cousin in Coombs with a hat shop, of course we went in and tried on hats and laughed at one another.

Later Colette took us to see a waterfall and surprised us with some Hot Damn Pepperoni!
( She had told me a story about a family camping trip they had gone on when the boys were young and while grocery shopping the boys really wanted some hot "DAMN" pepperoni and when they got it they were non stop giggling  saying the "damn" pepperoni! haha too cute! )

Colette is a wonderful hostess, always making our stay as comfortable as could be.
We felt truly blessed to stay at the MacAskill home.

We also took little Tia ( Colette's family dog ) for a walk to see Piper Lagoon and where the squatters live.  It was So beautiful down there even the pictures are not enough to explain the view.

Enjoying the ocean mist!

There were so many good times in Nanaimo, I could go on forever, but time is of the essence.. and right now it is pressing on. I imagine that statement is something that I will either become more aware of as this trip gets going or forget all about. Hopefully the latter of the two.

Spending time with such a great family also made me miss a great one at home.  I really love you guys and miss you all more then words can say.  Thank you for always being their for me and being so supportive while I follow my dreams. You are always in my heart. xo
Missie

Missie said everything great and I just want to thank Grandma, Grandpa, Aunty Colette, Jace, Jarrett and Kyle for everything.  Thanks alot!!!!!
